beep™ reaches 1 million Filipinos
As the Christmas season fast approaches, more and more commuting Filipinos will be out on the streets to do their holiday shopping. For those who take the LRT 1, LRT 2, and MRT 3, a welcome change has been implemented to make their commute a bit easier.
Just a few months ago, AF Payments Inc. began offering beep™ cards to the public. The card allows commuters to connect from one train line to another without the hassle of changing tickets. In November, the company issued its one millionth beep™ card.
“We are delighted that rail commuters in Metro Manila have taken so readily to the new beep™ card,” said AF Payments CEO Peter Maher. More than 50% of payments made on the three train lines are now made with beep™.
“Our vision is for beep™ to be part of every Filipino’s life. … We believe that this is the future of paying and we are looking forward to see how Filipinos and beep™ will grow together,” added Maher.
The beep™card is available in all LRT 1, LRT 2, and MRT 3 stations, and can be purchased via Ticket Vending Machines (TVM’s) and Teller Booths. They are sold for P20, and can be loaded with as little as P13. It can hold up to P10,000 and last four years.
